See work for homeownersWho we are
AJB Group has been trading out of Spalding since 2021 under Ashley Box. In that time the team has gone from a two-man outfit to fourteen full-time carpenters plus a vetted supply chain, working for main contractors, housing developers, local authorities and private clients.
That matters because most carpentry firms in this part of Lincolnshire are one or two people. We can hold multiple plots, elevations or phases at once, we carry the health and safety paperwork main contractors need before you get through the gate, and we bring our own crane, roofing division and in-house trades when a job needs more than carpentry.
It also means a homeowner gets the same carpenters who cut roofs on a 300-home development and fitted out a 13th-century castle.
Who we work for
A selection of the main contractors, developers, councils and national brands AJB Group has delivered carpentry packages for.

What we do
Twelve service areas, all carried out by our own carpenters. Roofing carpentry is the biggest part of what we do and the part we are known for.

Hand cut and trussed roofs, attic trusses, dormers, valleys, flat roofs and fascias. Our largest and most experienced division, from a single garage to twelve roofs on one town hall.

First fix, second fix, shuttering and formwork, shopfitting and full packages for main contractors. Priced from drawings, delivered to programme.

FD30 and FD60 supply, installation and survey work. We have delivered fire door programmes for two local authorities and built a fire safety test centre used to train fitters.

Timber, cedar, larch, composite, shiplap and uPVC. Including 350 square metres of Scottish larch on the Norfolk coast at Cromer.

Joist sets, structural floors, stud partitions and timber frame. Traditional, engineered and posi-joist, hand cut on site where the drawing calls for it.

Supply and fit or fit only, from a single domestic kitchen to nine apartments in one building. Over 100 cabinet colours, UK manufactured.
Recent work
Every job below is one of ours, photographed on site. No stock imagery anywhere on this website.

Twelve separate roof adaptations across a 16-month renovation, including the structural build-up carrying a new five-metre clock, plus a new theatre and cafe.

450 x 450 shutter boxes set to millimetre tolerance ahead of 58 concrete pours, forming the base for a four-storey staff accommodation block.

A disused town centre building turned into nine apartments: 72 fire doors, two double-winder staircases, new sash windows, nine kitchens and a pharmacy fit-out.
Our strongest trade
Around a third of everything AJB does is roof structure. Hand cut or trussed, simple or awkward, we cut it on site and get it water tight.
A recent high-end residential roof gives a fair idea of the range: raised tie trusses pitched at 35 and 45 degrees, sixteen metres of common cut rafters to a box beam, four irregular hips, eight Velux openings, thirteen traditional cut dormers and five valley sets. Turned around on time and on budget.

Common questions
Yes. We are based in Spalding and work across South Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, including Peterborough, Grantham, Stamford, Boston, Bourne, Wisbech, King's Lynn, Long Sutton, Holbeach and Market Deeping. Larger contract work is taken on nationally.
Both. Roughly half our work is full carpentry packages for main contractors and developers, and the other half is domestic: extensions, renovations, kitchens, staircases and garden carpentry. The same employed carpenters do both, which is why the standard on a private extension matches the standard on a 300-home site.
We are CHAS accredited and SMSTS certified, and we retain an external health and safety consultant who reviews the company annually. Director Ashley Box also holds a Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management, awarded in July 2026. That is the paperwork main contractors ask for before you set foot on site, and it is on the accreditations page in full.
Fourteen full-time carpenters, up from seven in 2025, supported by a vetted network of self-employed site carpenters. In practice that means multiple plots or elevations can run at once rather than in sequence, which is usually where programmes slip.
Yes, and it is most of what we do. We regularly take the full carpentry package from joists and roof structure through first fix, second fix, doors, staircases and kitchens, with supply and fit options and our own crane for lifts. For domestic clients we also project manage the other trades so there is one number to call.
No. Site visits and written estimates are free. For contract work, send the drawings and specification and we will price the package.
Send the plans and we will price the carpentry package. Or book a free site visit and we will come and look at it.
