Carpenters in King's Lynn, covering West Norfolk from South Lynn out to the Wash and the fen villages. Free site visit and a written estimate, or send drawings for a package price.
King's Lynn has been on AJB Group's job list since 2021, which makes it the longest running town outside Lincolnshire. The first apartment scheme here predates most of the company, and the work has kept coming back: barn conversions, renovations, kitchens and the road east into the rest of Norfolk.
West Norfolk work tends to arrive as conversion rather than new build. Barns, outbuildings, older town properties and infill schemes, where the existing structure decides the sequence and the carpenter has to work out how a new floor or a new roof lands in a building nobody measured properly in the first place.
Proof
A full barn conversion, for Eastern Construction Consultants. Just outside King's Lynn, a whole barn taken on for a long standing client. The task was reinstalling a traditional set of joists to create a new first floor, making use of every bit of space available in what was a tight building, and leaving two bedrooms and an en suite upstairs.
Forming a floor inside an existing barn is not the same job as building one on a new plot. Nothing is square, the walls are rarely parallel, the bearing has to be found in masonry that was never designed for a modern floor load, and the finished ceiling height downstairs and headroom upstairs both have to come out of the same depth. The first fix team then carried on through the building with structural floors, ceilings and external walls.
Seven apartments at South Lynn. One of AJB's larger early projects: 7 two and three bed apartments just outside South Lynn, where the company led the full carpentry contract. The first storey joist set went in first, then joists and roofs were completed by the back end of summer, and the job was pushed through first fix to completion.
A kitchen fitted in two days, for HB Developments. A new renovation in King's Lynn where the kitchen was installed on a two day turnaround and left ready for worktop templates. Two days is a working answer to a real problem on a renovation: the template survey is the pinch point in every kitchen programme, and every day the cabinets are not in is a day the worktops are not ordered.
And the vans. The signwriting on the vehicles that turn up was done by All Signs (King's Lynn) Ltd, which is a small thing, but it is the sort of detail that tells you whether a contractor actually works in a town or just lists it.

What we do here

Timber, cedar, larch, composite, shiplap and uPVC, on the ventilated build up the Norfolk weather requires.
Getting to you
King's Lynn is about 30 miles from Spalding and it is the easiest run AJB makes: one road, the A17, through Holbeach, Long Sutton, Sutton Bridge, Terrington St Clement and into the town. Roughly 45 minutes, and the same road serves Wisbech via the A1101 turn.
Areas covered from here include South Lynn, North Lynn, West Lynn, Gaywood, Clenchwarton, Terrington St Clement, Tilney All Saints, Middleton, East Winch, Castle Rising, Downham Market and Stoke Ferry, where AJB replaced the roof on the village hall. Carry on north east from Lynn and you are on the coast road: the Norfolk coast cladding work runs from here out to Wells-next-the-Sea and Cromer.
Case studies

A traditional joist set forming a new first floor in a tight building, two bedrooms and an en suite above, then a complete first fix.

A full strip back and replacement of the roof on the village hall, finished with a brand new trussed roof and minimal disruption to the hall's schedule.

The exterior finish package on a circa £1.8M build: full exterior cladding to both properties plus a sea view watch tower machined up on site in Scottish larch.
