Cladding
Larch, cedar, composite, shiplap and timber cladding for garden buildings and house elevations, so an outbuilding can be finished to match the property rather than fight it.

What this covers
Garden carpentry is where a carpentry contractor gets to show what it can actually do, because almost nothing outside comes in a standard size. AJB Group builds decking in timber and composite, bespoke fencing, pergolas, greenhouses, garden rooms and cabins, hot tub buildings, store rooms, porches, fire pit surrounds and driveway gates, machined and assembled on site rather than delivered as a flat pack.
Outdoor work is unforgiving in a way interior joinery is not. Everything moves, everything gets wet, and the ground is never flat. That is why these jobs start below the surface: the Wisbech decking build began with digging out for the posts, and the stairs were built in position rather than bought. Material choice matters just as much. Scottish larch and western red cedar are used where the timber is on show and has to weather well, softwood where it is going to be painted or is doing a structural job, and composite decking where the client wants a surface that needs no annual attention.
The range runs from a fence panel to a resort. At one end, a 50 metre run of hit and miss baton fencing and a fire pit cloaked in western red cedar. At the other, custom made glamping cabins for a private client opening a glamping resort in Lincolnshire, each pod stick built and custom made on site so every one suits its plot. In between sit the everyday jobs: a hot tub shed, a garden store room clad to match the house, a set of porches, a pergola.
Because the same company also builds the house, garden work joins up with the rest of it. Cladding on a garden building can match the cladding on the property, a garden room roof is built by the same carpenters who cut roofs on developments, and gates and porches are made by the joiners who hang the doors and windows.

Evidence
A garden renovation with SSL Home Creations. Described by the team as Chelsea flower show worthy and not their usual line of work, this was a mammoth garden build delivered alongside SSL Home Creations' groundworks and landscaping team. AJB Group hand built a 35 metre long bespoke greenhouse on site, plus two elegant pergolas. It remains the clearest demonstration of the principle that if it is made of timber, it can be built.
Wisbech, mobile home decking. Two weeks on a wrap-around custom built timber deck for a mobile home, one of the largest decking jobs the team had taken at the time. The scope was start to finish, from digging out for the posts through to building the stairs on site.
Glamping cabins, Lincolnshire. A development site of custom made cabins built for a private client intending to open his own glamping resort. Each pod was stick built and custom made on site to ensure the finished units suited the site rather than the catalogue.
Fencing and fire pit. A 50 metre run of hit and miss baton fencing installed with SSL Home Creations, alongside a fire pit cloaked in western red cedar as the centrepiece of a family garden. Elsewhere, bespoke vertical blade fencing panels set at 45 degrees were built up on site in Scottish larch to give total privacy from one direction and visibility from the other, next to a garden store room clad in matching larch.
Garden buildings and porches. A hot tub shed in Long Sutton with five doors hung and the double sets converted into bi-folds to open the frontage right up, and five hand cut hip end softwood porches with cladded undersides built across a housing site at Quadring, with more hand made softwood porches fitted since.
Composite decking and gates. Composite decking laid throughout the rear of a building on a canteen fit-out, with hand made ramps to suit all access, and bespoke driveway and pedestrian gates made and hung to finish a project for HB Developments.

A free site visit is the only sensible starting point, because the price of an outdoor structure is set by the ground it sits on. What gets checked is the fall across the plot, what is under the surface, how the access works for materials, and whether anything needs digging out or building up before a single post goes in. From there you get a written estimate that separates the groundworks from the timber and the labour.
Timber choice is a real decision and it is worth having the conversation up front. Composite decking costs more at the start and asks nothing of you afterwards. Larch and cedar weather to a silver grey unless they are treated, which some clients want and some do not. Softwood is the value option and is the right answer for structures that will be painted. None of that is upsold here: you get told what each one does and you choose.
Garden and external carpentry is a regular subcontract package. AJB Group has built porches across housing sites, laid composite decking with access ramps on a commercial canteen fit-out, and worked alongside groundworks and landscaping teams on large private garden renovations. The company is CHAS accredited and SMSTS certified with RAMS issued per project, employs its carpenters, and can take external timber packages across multiple plots rather than one at a time.
One point of contact, a free site visit and a written estimate before anything starts. Booking early matters more for garden work than for anything else on this site, because everybody wants their garden finished in the same six weeks of the year. If the job needs a base, a path or a wall as well as the timber, the in-house supply chain covers it.

Common questions
Any structure in the garden made of timber: decking, fencing, pergolas, greenhouses, garden rooms and cabins, hot tub buildings, store rooms, porches, gates and fire pit surrounds. Our own summary of it is simple enough: if it is made of timber, we can build it.
Yes, in timber and in composite. A large wrap-around deck was built for a mobile home in Wisbech over two weeks, taken from start to finish including digging out for the posts and building the stairs on site, and composite decking was laid throughout the rear of a building on a canteen fit-out with hand made ramps to suit all access.

Bespoke vertical blade fencing panels set at 45 degrees were built up on site in Scottish larch to give total privacy from one direction and clear visibility from the other, and a 50 metre run of hit and miss baton fencing was installed on a garden renovation alongside a fire pit cloaked in western red cedar.
Yes. Custom made glamping cabins were built for a private client opening a glamping resort in Lincolnshire, each pod stick built and custom made on site rather than delivered as a kit. Other builds include a hot tub shed in Long Sutton with five doors hung and the double sets converted into bi-folds, and a garden store room clad in Scottish larch to match the bungalows next to it.
Yes. Bespoke driveway gates and matching pedestrian gates were made and hung to finish a project for HB Developments. Gates are made to the opening rather than bought to a nearest size, which matters on a driveway where the ground falls away.
Yes. Garden structures start below ground, and the Wisbech decking job began with digging out for the posts. On larger garden renovations we work alongside groundworks and landscaping teams, and our own in-house supply chain covers the digging, bases and brickwork a timber structure needs under it.
