Fire doors
FD30 and FD60 supply, survey and installation to current fire safety standards, with the certification paperwork that ordinary door hanging does not carry. 72 fire doors and frames went into one Grantham conversion.
Doors and windows
Door fitting and window installation across Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, from a single internal door to a craned-in timber frontage. Supply and fit or labour only, priced from a site visit or from drawings.
What this covers
Doors and windows are where carpentry gets judged. A door that binds, a frame that is out of plumb or a window that lets the weather in is noticed every single day, by everybody. AJB Group fits internal doors and linings, external doors, timber windows and full frontages, uPVC windows and doors, bi-folds, shop front glazing frames, porches and bespoke timber gates, on everything from a single domestic replacement to a whole town centre building.
Internal work covers linings and casings, hanging and adjusting, ironmongery, and cutting doors into openings that were never standard. Pre-finished oak doors such as Holdenby Oak are a regular supply item, and doors are routinely cut down or biscuit jointed to suit sloped ceilings and reduced openings rather than being forced into a hole. Certified fire door work is a separate discipline with its own survey, its own components and its own paper trail, so it lives on the fire doors page.
External work runs from a straightforward rip out and refit in uPVC through to timber frontages that need a crane. On a flat in Grantham town centre a full timber window frontage including a unique half moon window was lifted into place with AJB Group supplying the crane, the carpenters and the timber windows under one roof, which meant one point of contact for the whole operation rather than three suppliers blaming each other. New external sash windows and doors plus shop front windows and hoarding went into the same building.
Bi-fold doors, gable windows, porches and gates finish the list. Bi-folds with a submarine gable window above went into a dog room extension at Long Sutton, five hand cut hip end softwood porches with cladded undersides were built across a housing site at Quadring, and bespoke driveway and pedestrian gates were made and hung for HB Developments. If the opening is timber or the frame is going into timber, it is in scope.

Doors are one line in a second fix package that also covers skirting, architrave, ironmongery and trim. On contract work the two are always priced together.

Bespoke driveway and pedestrian gates, porches, garden buildings and the external timber work that sits around the openings in a house.
Evidence
Grantham town centre, timber frontage. An early morning lift in Grantham put a full timber window frontage into a flat, including a unique half moon window. Crane, carpenters and timber windows were all supplied by AJB Group, which is the whole point: one point of contact through a lift that involves plant, a road, a building and a delivery all arriving at the same time.
Grantham, contract package. New external sash windows and doors, new shop front windows and hoarding, and 72 internal fire doors and frames, delivered as part of the full carpentry package that turned 17-19 High Street into nine apartments and a pharmacy for Probus Construction.
Long Sutton, uPVC and bi-folds. A full rip and fit of new uPVC windows and doors on a bungalow, carried out ahead of a single storey rear extension on the same property. On a separate turnkey job in the same town, bi-fold doors with a submarine gable window above them were fitted to a 2m x 2m dog room extension, and on a garden building the double door sets were converted into bi-folds to open the front right up.
Grade 2 listed, windows and doors package. Finals completed on an extension and renovation to a Grade 2 listed property for J Turner Brickwork, with the windows, doors and timber package all completed in house. Listed work is unforgiving on detail and on approvals, which is why the whole package sat with one trade.
Awkward openings. A weekend on the biscuit jointer fitting doors into a sloped roof and cutting several down to suit smaller openings, contracted in by SSL Home Creations. Elsewhere, pre-finished Holdenby Oak internal doors have been supplied and fitted through trade supply arrangements, and oak doors went in alongside a softwood staircase on a five bedroom house at Quadring.
Porches and gates. Five hand cut hip end softwood porches with cladded undersides built across a housing site at Quadring, more hand made softwood porches fitted since, and bespoke driveway and pedestrian gates made and hung to finish a project for HB Developments.

For a domestic replacement, a free site visit gets you a written estimate. What matters at the visit is the state of the existing openings rather than the doors themselves: whether the frames are sound, whether the reveals are square, whether a lintel is doing its job, and whether the plaster will survive the change. For new build and contract work, send the drawings and the door and window schedule and a package price comes back with the scope written out line by line.
Work is taken supply and fit or labour only. AJB Group works closely with its timber suppliers and passes trade pricing on, so supply and fit is often the better value route, but if you have already bought your doors and windows they will simply be fitted.
Doors are a volume trade with a long tail of snags, and windows are usually on the critical path to making a building water tight. AJB Group prices both inside a wider carpentry package: at Grantham that meant sash windows, shop fronts, hoarding and 72 fire doors under one appointment, with phase one programmed at six weeks on site. The company crane removes a hire dependency from any frontage lift. CHAS accredited, SMSTS certified, RAMS issued per project.
One point of contact and one written estimate, whether it is one internal door or every window in the house. Where the work touches plaster, brickwork or decoration, the in-house trades handle the making good rather than leaving you with the mess and three more numbers to ring.

Common questions
Yes, both, and internal door hanging is done at volume. We installed 72 internal fire doors and frames across nine apartments at 17-19 High Street in Grantham, and we hang oak and painted internal doors on domestic work. Certified fire door installation has its own page because it is a different job with a different paper trail.
Either. We work closely with our timber suppliers and pass trade pricing on, with a wide range of doors to choose from including pre-finished Holdenby Oak internal doors. If you have already bought your doors, we fit them on a labour only basis instead.
Yes. A full rip out and fit of new uPVC windows and doors was carried out on a bungalow in Long Sutton, ahead of a single storey rear extension on the same property. Timber and uPVC are both fitted, and on a renovation it is common to do the whole house in one visit rather than window by window.
Yes. A full timber window frontage including a unique half moon window was craned into a flat in Grantham town centre, with us supplying the crane, the carpenters and the timber windows under one roof so the client had one point of contact throughout. New external sash windows and doors plus shop front windows and hoarding were installed on the same building.
That is normal work here. A weekend was spent on the biscuit jointer fitting doors into a sloped roof and cutting several down to suit smaller openings for SSL Home Creations. Cutting a door down properly means keeping the stile and rail proportions right, not just trimming the bottom until it closes.
Yes. Bi-fold doors with a submarine gable window above them were installed on a dog room extension in Long Sutton as part of a full turnkey build, and double door sets on a garden building in the same town were converted into bi-folds to open the frontage right up.
